Sitting atop of Isinglas Mountain at 1750 feet with spectacular panoramic views, you will find the entrance to the "Mine in the Sky" with ,The mine is the oldest mica, feldspar, and beryl mine in the USA. It is mostly an open pit mine of giant rooms and tunnels with arched ceilings and sparkling walls that show how the mountains were formed, later intruded, and finally worn down over 300 million years. A snack bar, picnic area, museum, and unique gift shop with a lovely mineral displays are available. Mineral collecting is permitted with your admission ticket.
